Impatient Ones

These elections have been a landmark in the history of this country. It marks the resurrection of Congress and end of coalition politics.

Since the 90’s India has gone through a difficult phase where no single party has had a clear majority. This meant that in the last 4 governments different parties have got together to form the government most of them being regional parties.

This caused the rise of regional parties and the weakening of the national parties which lead to a dirty form of politics where no one stuck to an ideology or a stance. Everybody was doing deals to try and get a ministirial birth in the government.

The credit for the resurrection of the congress goes to 3 people. Dr Manmohan Singh is the first one. He has protected India from the worst economic crisis the world has ever seen. He put his foot down and made sure Indian signed a landmark nucluer deal with the US and most of all his clean and respectable image appealed to all sections of society.

Sonia Gandhi continues to be at the center of things. She has managed her allies shrewdly and with a strong hand. She has now also started allowing Rahul and his youth brigade to become more influential within the Congress party.

Rahul Gandhi deserves the most amount of credit for this victory. He ensured that Congress went alone in the UP elections and campaigned there day in and day out which has meant that Congress got some 20 odd seats which was the second highest in the state. He is clearly India’s next prime minister.

Though i have a lot of respect for the intellectuals within the NDA i am not surprised that they lost. Clearly the BJP lacked leadership with LK Advani failing miserably to fill the shoes of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Also just like their India Shining campaign which cost them the last elections this time also their campaign was over the top which to some extent started irritating people.

BSP lost ground in UP, Mulayam and SP also lost ground, Lalu did miserably in Bihar and so did Chandrababu Naidu and all this is great for Indian Politics as these were the people who were opportunitistic and could not be trusted. more >>

Almost all of us ambitious ones have childhood dreams, though while growing up they soon start to look juvenile and unachievable and hence they are left behind. Although, there is one person who committed his life to achieving the dreams he sought after. Randy Pausch, computer professor at the Carnegie Mellon University, in his last lecture, titled ‘really achieving your childhood dreams’ emphasized on the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others and of seizing every moment to achieve what you have dreamt of. It’s an inspiring lecture, with examples from his personal life, on making your dreams transform into reality. For those who are eager to achieve, impatience becomes a virtue.
